Alexander Vesely, MSc, Dr. h.c., is a psychotherapist, educator, and Director of the Viktor Frankl Media Archive in Vienna. He earned his Master’s degree in Psychotherapy Science from Sigmund Freud University in Vienna and completed his clinical training in Logotherapy and Existential Analysis under Elisabeth Lukas, one of the closest collaborators of psychiatrist and Holocaust survivor Viktor E. Frankl, founder of Logotherapy and author of Man’s Search for Meaning. Since 2022, Vesely has played a leading role in developing and teaching at the Online Academy for Logotherapy at the Elisabeth Lukas Archive, helping bring Frankl’s meaning-centered approach to students and professionals worldwide. He is also Co-Founder of the Viktor Frankl Institute of America. Vesely began his professional career in film and television production. He co-founded the Vienna-based production company Clipwerk and collaborated internationally, including with StraightUp Films in Los Angeles. He has also taught at the University of Television and Film (HFF) in Munich. He directed the award-winning documentary Viktor & I (2010), a personal portrait of his grandfather, Viktor E. Frankl, and Wizard of the Desert, about American psychiatrist Milton H. Erickson. In recognition of his contributions to preserving and advancing Frankl’s legacy through education and film, he was awarded an honorary doctorate (Doctor Honoris Causa) by the Universidad Femenina del Sagrado Corazón (UNIFÉ) in Lima, Peru. Alexander Vesely is an international speaker on Logotherapy and lives in Vienna with his wife Carina and son David.
