PREREQUISITES FOR DIPLOMATE CLINICIAN

(TRACK A)

  • PhD or relevant earned doctorate, or license to practice (at a minimum of the master's degree level) in one of the human services fields.  Official transcripts and copies of state licenses must be on file in the Institute office.
  • Documentation of 2,000 clock hours of supervised, relevant professional experience. Adequate documentation is considered by submitting to the Institute office a copy of one's state license in the mental health field where such licensure requires a 2,000 clock hour internship.
  • Associate in Logotherapy credential

 

ADVANCED SUPERVISED STUDY:

DIPLOMATE CLINICIAN

Applicable for psychiatrists, physicians, psychologists, licensed counselors, social workers, nurses, marriage and family therapists, certified pastoral counselors, psychotherapists, and professionals working in chemical dependency and other areas of specialization and rehabilitation.

Practicum :  50 hours of individual and group counseling in which the concepts of logotherapy are integrated.

25 hours of supervision :  For every 2 hours of practicum experience, one hour of supervision shall be required.  Through analysis of audio and video tapes made by the candidate, as well as analysis of case studies presented by the candidate, proficiency must be demonstrated in the following areas:  evaluation and diagnosis, appropriate intervention and therapeutic techniques in which the concepts of logotherapy are integrated, record keeping, consultation protocol with related professionals, and knowledge of ethical responsibilities.

Achievement :  DIPLOMATE CLINICIAN credential issued by the Viktor Frankl Institute of Logotherapy.

Applicants for the Diplomate Clinician credential must be members of the Viktor Frankl Institute of Logotherapy and must MAINTAIN membership in the Institute in order to retain the validity of the Diplomate credential.

PREREQUISITES FOR DIPLOMATE EDUCATOR/ADMINISTRATOR

(TRACK B)

  • Education at, or equivalent to, a minimum of the master's degree level
  • Applicable to those whose primary responsibilities do not include the clinical application of Logotherapy
  • Associate in Logotherapy credential

 

ADVANCED SUPERVISED STUDY:

DIPLOMATE EDUCATOR/ADMINISTRATOR

A written research project (approximating, at least, the 50 practicum hours and the 25 hours of supervision required for Track A) in the work of Viktor  E. Frankl, MD, PhD, as seen in Logotherapy and Franklian psychology, as well as related works of Elisabeth Lukas, PhD, and other Logotherapy scholars is required of the Diplomate Educator/Administrator candidate.

The supervising Diplomate (an approved Institute faculty member of the candidate's choice) will serve in a tutorial capacity during this advanced independent study to guide and encourage the Diplomate candidate to the successful completion of the stated goal. The Diplomate project will reflect the candidate's area of expertise and will be relevant to the chosen area of application.

Advanced Supervised Study :  The study will result in a Diplomate project presented in APA format.  While working closely with the supervising Diplomate, the project must meet the approval of the supervising Diplomate before being submitted to the Institutes's Education and Credentialing Committee.  After final approval by the Viktor Frankl Institute of Logotherapy, it will be available in the Institute office for further reference to others interested in the study of Franklian Psychology and Logotherapy.

Achievement :  DIPLOMATE EDUCATOR/ADMINISTRATOR credential issued by Viktor Frankl Institute of Logotherapy.
